  • Polls Open 6:00 a.m. VOTE!

Posted Nov 03 at 9 PM

In Presidential Election years, the polls open one hour earlier than usual.  That means 6:00 a.m.for this very important election.

What should you do if you haven't mailed in your advance ballot by now?  Deliver your advance ballot to 2101 E Kansas City Road and drop it. Or take your advance ballot to your regular polling location and "surrender" it, and vote the old-fashioned way...in person.

First time voters in Johnson County should be ready to show driver's licenses, student IDs or current utility bills.

If all else fails, ask for a provisional ballot.

If you need a ride or someone to pick up and deliver your advance ballot call me, Gene, at 913-492-2253

  • Preposterous Attack Postcard Mailing

Posted Oct 30 at 12 PM

You may have received my opponent's preposterous, last- minute attack postcard yesterday.

As a former teacher from a family of educators, I of course support funding for crumbling classrooms, increases in teacher salaries and all day kindergarten.  I also support funding for health care coverage for low income Kansans.

The amendments cited in that ridiculous card were nothing more than political maneuvering designed to defeat legalized gaming, not serious legislative proposals.

This type of dishonest political smear tactic is exactly why I continue to believe the State Legislature has been too focused on partisan issues and political power plays, instead of the really important every-day needs of Kansas families.  It's another example of exactly why we need to clean up the mess in Topeka.
